About Taps Termite

Since 1969, TAPS Termite and Pest Specialists has been providing the Bay Area with home and commercial termite inspections, treatments and repairs. It is our mission to provide you with termite control solutions that prolong structural integrity. Termites are among the most costly pests to control once they make a building their breeding ground. Each year, the amount of damage caused by termites and other wood destroying pests amounts to billions of dollars. This cost can be easily and greatly reduced with regular termite inspections and treatments. Feel free to browse our site for information on pests and our company or give us a call at (408) 259-5900. Together we can protect your investment from wood destroying pests so you can focus on the more important things in life.

TAPS Termite was established in 1969 by a husband and wife team, John & Shirley Clark. John had many years of experience as a termite inspector and enough money to buy a small truck to perform inspections. Shirley typed the reports in the “office” which was located at the end of the kitchen in their home. In those days, the reports were 7 page carbon snap-outs typed on a manual typewriter.

As time passed, the need for additional employees became evident. Tim Denner, one of the current owners, was hired. They also brought another office member onboard to facilitate the expansion.

In 1998, the company continued under new ownership of two long-time employees, Tim Denner & Leticia Munoz. Although a lot has changed over the years with modern technology, one thing remains the same. The values that John & Shirley instilled in their employees about honesty, customer service and standing behind their work is still alive and well at TAPS Termite.

Pest Service for Home Sales
TAPS has over 40 years of experience with pest reports, repairs and treatments for home sales. We work closely and have relationships with other skilled trades such as plumbing and roofing to ensure your repairs are done at a lower-than-retail cost and in time to meet your ever-shrinking lending deadlines.

Warranty
TAPS provides a warranty for all treatments completed by our firm. We hang a sign in our office at each desk that states “Why is there never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over?” This is a reminder to our motivated staff that getting the job done the first time is of the highest priority. You can rest assured knowing that your work is guaranteed.

Periodic Protection Services
When termites swarm, they are looking for new and tasty places to establish their next colony. This means that termites can easily fly over from virtually anywhere. Many people know at least one person on their block that does not keep up with their home maintenance as well as they probably should. This means that a swarm can fly over from your neighbor’s home and take up residence in your home! TAPS offers periodic protection services that can prevent future infestations from occurring by catching them before they make your house their new home. This helps to ultimately lower and spread the cost of termite control over time.

Green Solutions
***Your inspector may note that a different product may be a better custom solution to your pest management issue. Be sure to note that you would like a bid for using a “green” product upon ordering your inspection.***

Orange Oil
Orange Oil is made from the oily substance found in the rinds of oranges. It is used in many household cleaning solutions and found in many of our body care products. In fact, it’s likely that you may have used or are currently using a product that contains orange oil in your own home! Orange oil’s chemical name is D-limonene. Limonene is a chemical found in various plants, flowers and trees. It is an entirely renewable resource and is a by-product of the manufacturing of orange juice. The rinds of the orange are distilled to extract the desired oil. In terms of long-term efficacy, there is no magic cure to rid your life of termites forever. Termites are over 100 million years old and will likely be around long after humans. No matter what treatment is chosen, there are many ways termites can find their way back into your home. The best way to deal with termites is to think of the treatment as ongoing maintenance.

Borates
Borates are products that are useful for eliminating current infections or infestations. They are also versatile in that some can be used as an effective preventative treatment for wood. Borates, when applied topically to wood, penetrate deep into the object through diffusion. The application can remain effective for as long as the treated wood is kept away from flowing water. Target pests can include subterranean, drywood and dampwood termites, carpenter ants and various species of wood-boring beetles. These can be ideal as they are manufactured with more concern for the environment than many other compounds.

Tree Bark Derivatives
Chlorantraniliprole is the latest treatment for subterranean termites. It follows suit of many popular products in being derived from the bark of a tree found in Africa and has minimal impact on the environment. Altriset is both non-repellent and environmentally responsible, making it a dynamic product. This is the only liquid termiticide on the market that is classified by the EPA as reduced-risk and requires no “signal” word (many are required to have “caution” on the packaging).
